A note from Werner X. Uehlinger

AlAy AG (formerly named Hat Hut Records) was established 1975 in Therwil, Switzerland by Werner X. Uehlinger.

A new company established under the name of Hat Hut Records AG which is based in Basel, Switzerland owned by Melanie Imhof von Orelli and Marco von Orelli, has acquired the brand as well as certain inventories, recordings and publication rights from AlAy AG and is now distributing, selling the former recordings.

AlAy are the first two letters of the late Albert Ayler. The new name of my company was chosen to pay tribute to and in great appreciation of the saxophonist/innovator Albert Ayler. I, Werner X. Uehlinger, first heard him perform live in Lörrach, Germany, in 1966 and was fascinated by his music.

From June 1982, in cooperation with Arlene Ayler, the widow and successor to the rights of the late Albert Alyer, we were able to publish the concert from Lörrach, Germany as well as the Paris concert which was also included in the first release of Albert Ayler in 1983. Since that time, up to the year 2023, and in cooperation with Desiree Ayler-Fellows, daughter of Albert Ayler, 9 additional CDs have been released.
